Sandy McBride

Retired Financial Advisor

Having lived on the Sunshine Coast since 1976, Sandy has participated in many projects and activities focussing on healthy and active living, including the development of recreation facilities and programs, the formation of a Community Foundation and the establishment of French Immersion as an educational option. She was the founding and intermittent Chair of the Sunshine Coast Women’s Resource Society and later the Resource Centre and supports any and all initiatives which improve the lives of all – especially the lives women and children.

Sandy’s final career before retiring in 2016 was as a Financial Advisor for the Sunshine Coast Credit Union. Among the responsibilities inherent in that role, she was a volunteer team leader for several Money Skills and Financial Literacy programs, both in the community and in the high schools. Since her retirement, Sandy has worked with many others to enhance food and housing security.

Sandy and husband Terry have raised their two sons on the Sunshine Coast and are now watching their grandkids grow and thrive on the Coast. They are extremely motivated to make the Coast the most healthy and safe environment for all.

Being one of “50 Women who Care” is a natural fit for Sandy and she welcomes the opportunity to help achieve the final push towards the successful completion of providing homes for Sunshine Coast women.

“It's a natural fit to have affordable housing and community services co-located together. Our entire community benefits when those most in need have access to safe housing, resources, and services.”
