Linda Curtiss

Coordinator, Outreach Healthy Meal Program

Linda and her husband Larry moved to the Sunshine Coast in 1971 after buying a fishing resort in Pender Harbour. While also raising a family, Linda worked at St. Mary’s Hospital for 10 years as a registered nurse, before becoming the nurse administrator at the Pender Harbour Health Centre – an integral role in the Pender Harbour community that she held for 25 years.

In retirement, Linda recognized a crucial need: the absence of nutritious meal options for individuals unable to leave the hospital due to lack of support at home. Determined to bridge this gap, she founded the Outreach Healthy Meal Program, an initiative powered entirely by the dedication of volunteers and funding from donations and grants. Volunteers meet every Monday to coordinate and deliver healthy meals to senior clients in the Pender Harbour area, providing not only food but a warm and welcoming connection to their community.

“It's important that women are recognized for the valuable role they play in helping the community to grow and thrive.”
