Sunshine Coast Community Services is very close to Keely’s heart. As a former employee of the organization for nearly fifteen years, she is well aware of the importance of its programs and the invaluable impact they can have on individuals, families and community alike. Keely (she/her) worked most closely with the Together Against Violence programs in her time with SCCSS, advocating for the safety and rights of individuals and families subjected to gender-based violence, and was employed when the Building Together Project was first envisioned. She is honoured to be able to continue to work with SCCSS as a volunteer to support this important and much-needed redevelopment.

Keely has been working with non-profits for over twenty years, be it frontline with women and children, directing programs, overseeing provincial and territorial projects, volunteering, or providing wilderness experiences to urban children and youth from low-income neighbourhoods. Most recently, she can be found coordinating live events and art installations at the Sunshine Coast Arts Council as Assistant Curator. Keely is also an artist, musician, settler, daughter, sister, stepmother, mother, spouse, auntie, food-lover and gardener grateful to be living a meaningful life in the beautiful unceded and traditional territories of the shíshálh and Skwxwú7mesh Nations.

“I am honoured to be able to continue to work with SCCSS as a volunteer to support this important and much-needed redevelopment as access to safe and affordable housing is critical as it is possibly the biggest barrier to women being able to leave an unsafe situation. Having worked at SCCSS, the rebuild of program spaces is also very needed to ensure there is ample room for programs and their development into the future, and a place for all to enter with pride and dignity.”
