Gloria Lifton

Retired Organizational Development Consultant Past President, SCCSS and Past Co-Chair, Seniors Planning Table Community Advocate and Volunteer

Gloria’s passion has always been in helping create healthy, resilient and caring individuals, organizations and communities. Her varied career has spanned health care, childcare and family counseling, Executive Director for a provincial health association and 15 years as a Senior Consultant with an organizational development consulting firm. She retired to spend more time in the place she loves, the Sunshine Coast, and to volunteer her skills, insights and experience with her community. Gloria has been involved in many ways with SCCSS since she moved to the coast in 1980. First as a Child Care Counsellor, then as Co-ordinator of Home Support Programs. During those early years she was on the Planning Committee that opened the first Food Bank and Parent-Tot Drop-In. She was also part of the small group of women who worked together to access funding and establish the first Transition House which opened in 1982. After retiring Gloria joined the Board of SCCSS from 2006 to 2012 and served as President for 3 years, then returned to the Board from 2015 to 2018. She has also served as a Founding Director of Board Voice BC from 2008 to 2012 and Co-Chaired the Senior’s Planning Table from 2016 to 2020. She is a passionate gardener and cook, sewer and quilter, information gatherer, long time meditator, married to Paul, step-mom to 3, grandma to 7, GG to 2, and a supportive friend of many.

“Making safe and affordable housing a reality for women and their families who face the challenges of violence or homelessness is a cause dear to my heart. I am honoured to join with other coastal women to make this happen.”
