In 1999, Christine Chandler retired from the North Vancouver School District and moved to the Sunshine Coast oast, where she immediately volunteered and joined the board of SCCSS, serving for six years, with three of those years as president. Chris went on to join the board of the Community Resource Centre, where she was involved in the creation and management of Vital First Aid and Safety Training.
In 2011, she returned to the Board of SCCSS for a further six-year term. During this time, the idea of building a residence for women was first discussed. Christine played a key role in the hiring of the current Executive Director, Catherine, who successfully brought the ‘Building Together’ Project to fruition.
Needless to say, she is a strong supporter of the project and believes in backing up her values with financial contributions.
